Among Secrets
Among Secrets, by Karin Eklund
The Drawing Cube, Changing Spaces, 9 Norfolk Street
2 October-13 October, daily 12-4
Opening 1 October 5-7pm
The Drawing Cube is pleased to announce Swedish artist and illustrator Karin Eklund's (Lund,1974) first solo exhibition in Cambridge. The exhibition features new paintings, drawings and illustrations.
Her work represent a fictional reality of arrested narratives with enigmatic and sometimes dark undertones, created as a collage of found and imagined images. ‘My work blurs the definitions of art and illustration, each work could be seen as part of a collection of short-stories or individually. Just as one story in a collection might not give you the answers, or even a sense of space, but when completing all the stories within the covers a sensibility, a feeling or intuition will help you interpret the meaning.’, says Karin.
Karin recently graduated from an MA in Children's Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin. Her first major commission was an iOS App for children, 'My First Orchestra App', by Naxos (available in the Apple App store), and she is currently working on a book for the same company. Before embarking on this course Karin worked as a curator and as director of a large artist residency programme and for a contemporary gallery in London. She has exhibited her paintings in Mexico, Isle of Mull, Stockholm and London.
This is the third exhibition organized by the pop up gallery The Drawing Cube at Changing Spaces Project Space on 9 Norfolk Street in Central Cambridge (next to CB2 cafe).
