Stories Begging to be Told
at The Drawing Cube, Changing Spaces Gallery
Changing Spaces are pleased to announce that a new pop-up gallery and project space is opening in Norfolk Street. The Drawing Cube will provide a space for showcasing contemporary fine art, drawing and illustration
The first few shows will exhibit original drawings and illustrations, but will also offer a selection of limited edition prints by the exhibiting artists, creating an affordable way to start or diversify your own art collection.
- I have always wanted to be part of a space which promoted excellence in contemporary drawing and illustration. This is the kind of work I find most inspiring, where you see work which uses a clear visual language to suggest a narrative, inspiring ideas with stories behind them. There are a lot of great galleries and museums in Cambridge, but no place that specifically focuses on drawing and illustration. Says Karin Eklund (exhibition organiser).
The first group exhibition will get the programme started by focussing on the core themes with 'Stories Begging to be Told' which includes work by Becky Palmer, Karin Eklund, Trudi Esberger, Kathrin Lang, Meria Palin and Joanne Young. The artists are working in different media, from traditional pencil and paper, to collage and digital work.
The artists are recent graduates from Cambridge School of Art, from the MA in Children's Book Illustration and from the BA in Illustration.
